431/1.4057
AISI 431 is in martensitic group steels. This group of stainless steels can be heat treated. Due to the content of Nickel and Chromium, it has a very high corrosion resistance, good tensile and torque strength and good toughness, making it ideal for shaft and bolt applications. It can be hardened to approximately 44HRC.
It is necessary to pay attention to pre-heating and controlled cooling at the welding of this material. AISI 431 has excellent resistance to a wide variety of corrosive environments. Generally, the corrosion resistance of 431 is approximately the same as or slightly lower than AISI 304.
Some application areas of this material are: Glass industry, automotive industry, Chemical industry, Petroleum industry, Aviation, Nuts and bolts, Propeller shafts, Pump shafts and general engineering applications.
USAGE AREAS: Glass molds, Plastic molds, Starch and paper grinding systems, Compressor manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Valve and pump manufacturing.
